On February 20, 2019, subcontractors working on the Neosho Ridge Wind project accidentally struck a subsurface water line in the course of their normal activities. The incident occurred about one mile west of Galesburg. Troy Smith, a representative of Rural Water District 4, visited the site and confirmed that the line was inaccurately located on water district maps. According to Mr. Smith, “It wasn’t anyone’s fault, the map was incorrect and the line was marked more than 30’ off from where identified. The crew helped out by digging out the line to assist in the repair of which is estimated to be less than $200.00.”
The water line has been fully repaired and is back in normal working order. The state has issued a temporary water boil notification as is standard practice when a water line is broken. This notice should be lifted tomorrow.
